Racial Equity

Our $5.5 racial equity allocation seeks to help repair and restore the damage caused by centuries of systemic racism in communities of color throughout our region. This work can begin by acknowledging true causes of disparities and creating space for trusting relationships. As a first step, we awarded $2.8 million in Racial Equity Community Grants of up to $25,000 to support organizations led by and serving communities of color in ways they determined to be most effective.

“While we know that most of our investments must be strategic to dramatically improve health and well-being, we also are keenly aware that organizations serving our community have their own unique and pressing needs and opportunities. We support those through responsive grantmaking, like our ION or Racial Equity grants, to give them the flexibility to invest in their own operations as they deem most appropriate.”
