Partner Spotlight: WRESA Partnership for WiFi Hotspots

A middle school “A” honor roll student who is one of five children, grandparents raising a middle schooler, and a single mom struggling to make ends meet. These are the Madison county residents able to check one less worry off their lists thanks to a March donation of WiFi hotspots to Western North Carolina school districts by Western Region Education Service Alliance (WRESA) through funds provided by Dogwood Health Trust.

Madison County School District was able to supply hotspots to 80 families who were unable to afford the Internet for their homes.

“We are grateful for the generosity of Dogwood Health Trust to provide hotspots to school systems. The collaboration between WRESA and Dogwood has allowed the school systems to identify needs to assist students in remote learning environments.”

Jan Webster

Director, WRESA

“Members of the Dogwood Health Trust team took time to meet with leaders in higher ed in order to understand what our unique challenges were and how they could partner with us to support a safe reopening during a pandemic. I really appreciate their willingness to listen and then act on our suggestions in order to support education and workforce training opportunities throughout the region.”
